This assumption is dangerously incomplete.
In the current European industrial architecture, trust, compliance, and integration capability outweigh raw technology in procurement decisions. Technically strong companies can and do lose to politically embedded competitors with inferior products. The competitive axes have shifted from price-versus-quality to system-access-versus-system-exclusion, and along those axes, regulatory compliance, political alignment, local industrial footprint, and integration capability matter more than technical specifications.
What is happening beneath the surface is a fundamental redefinition of what "competitive advantage" means in European defense. It no longer resides primarily in the product. It resides in the position, the structural location within the supply chain, the institutional relationships, the certification credentials, the legal architecture of the corporate entity, and the political alignment of the home country's bilateral defense relationships.
